What are you looking forward to the most in Münster or at the university?

"I am looking forward to working with Münster students as well as staff. I am very excited to share the Ugandan perspective of marketing, international business, and entrepreneurship with students studying these disciplines. The guidance of my advisor Prof. Wassermann has been very insightful because every meeting with him is always eye-opening and very beneficial to my PhD journey."

Why are you grateful for the cooperation between Münster University of Applied Sciences and Makerere University?

"I am grateful for the opportunity to learn from colleagues in Münster and teach the students here. I am glad to be an ambassador to Makerere University as well as Uganda. The exposure to Europe and the German culture and lifestyle has been fascinating. I studied the German language in my high school, hoping to visit Germany one day. That is why the collaboration between Makerere University and Münster School of Applied Sciences is a young girl's dream come true. This opportunity offers the perfect getaway for a mother from her typical family and societal responsibilities to pursue her Ph.D. and to advance in her career."

What topics are you researching?

"My area of research is in international business, particularly export performance. I am looking into technology orientation, knowledge absorptive capacity, supply chain agility, and the export performance of SME exporters in Uganda. This research is driven by the fact that there is a practical gap in the poor export performance of Uganda compared to other counterparts like Kenya and the democratic republic of Congo. As well as a theoretical gap that there is limited research explain export performance in relation to technology orientation and with two moderators of supply chain agility and knowledge absorptive capacity."

Why do you enjoy researching international business topics?

"I enjoy researching international business related topics because it is the career path I chose and wanted to pursue since I was eighteen years old when I travelled to the United Kingdom for the first time. I realized the shelves in the UK supermarkets hardly carried any Ugandan products which is still the case even for German supermarkets. I desire to change this because the pearl of Africa (Uganda) offers a wide variety of products that can definitely compete in European supermarkets once given the chance."

When do you particularly enjoy your work?

"My passion is to teach. My mother saw it in me from an early age on and said: "She will be a teacher." I like it when people are listening to me and when I have an impact on their lives. Teaching gives me this platform to do so."

What are the biggest cultural differences between Germans and Africans? /What can each culture learn from the other?

"The biggest cultural difference between Uganda and Germany is in terms of the food, waste disposal, how people dress, and the general lifestyle. All of these factors have an impact on the living environment. Uganda can learn from the German way of disposing waste to improve the environmental sustainability."

Do you already have a favorite place in Münster or at the university?

"My favorite place in Münster so far is my office because it is well located and gives me a conducive environment to work on my Ph.D. with all the technology and internet I need."

What is your vision for the future: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

"My vision is to be a successful university professor and at the same time an international business consultant for the World bank, the World Trade Organization or the United Nations ."
