MUAS Vice-president visits Chilean partners

Santiago de Chile (Chile). Carsten Schröder, Vice-president for Knowledge Transfer, Cooperation and Innovation, visited HEIs and PDP partners during a week-long trip to Chile. The visit aimed on intensifying old and establishing new contacts within the Chilean higher education system and discussing the state of knowledge and technology transfer. Carsten met with Universidad Santiago de Chile, Universidad Austral de Chile, Universidad Tecnológica Metropolitana and Universidad Tecnológica de Chile as well as CORFO, a governmental organization that was founded to promote economic growth.

Second workshop on Quality Assurance in Sierra Leonean Universities

Freetown (Sierra Leone). From January 14th to 18th the second workshop in the bounds of the project Assuring Quality Higher Education in Sierra Leone (AQHEd-SL) took place in Freetown. The 12 participants and the trainers of MUAS' Wandelwerk, the centre for Quality Development, Lisa Betting and Petra Pistor, dealt with tools and procedures for quality assurance in higher education and the basics of evaluation research. During the week, participants acquired basic knowledge in the field of empiricial social research and practical skills for designing questionnaires and surveys as well as data collection, analysis and interpretation for the enhancement of quality.

Module 2 (QM) with Universidad de Talca completed

Münster (Germany). In first week of December QM-experts of the Universidasd de Talca (Chile) successfully participated in Module 2 of our Professional Development Programme on Quality Management at MUAS to learn more about our structures and systems. Besides workshops and the further development of the participants` Personal Application Projects, one focus of the visit was also to meet with various QM-staff in person to ensure a first hand look into our processes.

Matchmaking Workshop in Morocco

Casablanca (Morocco). PDP-Manager Rolf Laakmann participated in a 2 day matchmaking event in Casablanca, Morocco, offered by the DAAD which aims to support Moroccan universities to become more entrepreneurial and labour market orientated. Besides discussing strategies, tools and good practices on how to act more market orientated, the event aimed to match Moroccan and German universities that are interested in cooperating and jointly applying to the DAAD programme "Entrepreneurial Universities in Africa".

Assuring Quality Higher Education in Sierra Leone

Freetown (Sierra Leone). Petra Pistor facilitated the first workshop in the framework of the training on quality assurance in Higher Education in cooperation with Dr. Sherman Kamara (Njala University) and Dr. Ronnie Frazer-Williams (University of Sierra Leone). The training will include four workshops until April 2019 and addresses quality assurance managers from three Sierra Leonean Universities and the Tertiary Education Commission of Sierra Leone. The training takes place under the umbrella of the initiative Assuring Quality Higher Education in Sierra Leone (AQHEd-SL), where MUAS partners with University of Sierra Leone and King's College London.

QM Programme at Universidad de Talca started

Talca (Chile). Prof. Dr. Annika Boentert, Prof. Dr. Frank Dellmann and Vanessa Müller kicked off the first module of our Professional Development Programme on Quality Management in Talca, Chile. The trainings will focus on supporting the university to consolidate the central Quality Management Team, improve coordination between stakeholders and intensify "quality culture" on both administrative and academic level.

Universidad Tecnológica Metropolitana delegation visits MUAS

Münster (Germany). Chilean researchers Prof. David Blanco and Prof. Sebastian Tolvett visited MUAS and its partners for a three day long programme in Münster, Amsterdam and Steinfurt. Aiming on an insight into MUAS` renowed knowledge transfer modell, the visit was tailored towards face-to-face meetings with MUAS experts both from the strategical as well as operational level. Sessions focused on best practices of our "university eco system" and new scientific insights on science-to-business marketing, integration of real life projects into teaching and science-to-society.

Chilean Technology Transfer Experts visit MUAS

Münster (Germany). During the past two weeks, Carlos Abello and Claudio Torres from the Technology Transfer Office of Universidad Santiago de Chile (USACH) visited Münster University of Applied Sciences (MUAS) and the Science-to-Business Marketing Research Centre (S2BMRC). MUAS and S2BMRC have been supporting USACH since January 2017 in exploring and designing ways to improve university-business collaborations, academic and student entrepreneurship and technology transfer models. In this occasion, S2BMRC hosted the visitors and included them as active participants in team meetings and activities such as a project development workshop, the development of new innovative initiatives and designing of student semester projects. Complementing this, MUAS supported technology transfer model design and organizational change management through visits to labs, management staff and individual meetings with experts.

Our team members Prof. Dr. Thorsten Kliewe and Rolf Laakmann participated in a Matchmaking event in Nairobi, Kenya, offered by the DAAD which aims to support Kenyan HEIs to become entrepreneurial universities. Besides discussing strategies, tools and good practices on "Entrepreneurial Universities", the event aimed to match German and Kenyan universities that are interested in cooperating and jointly applying to the DAAD programme "Entrepreneurial Universities in Africa".

Workshop on HEI Management in Egypt

Cairo (Egypt). Prof Dr. Thorsten Kliewe and Dr. Lina Landinez participated in a DAAD event on "Evolvement of Entrepreneurial Universities in the MENA Region" in Cairo. This workshop aimed to raise awareness and create a common understanding among managers of Higher Education Institutions (HEI) on the topic of entrepreneurial universities, what is needed in the change process and the societal impacts involved. Prof. Kliewe led the workshop on "Higher Education Management: which structural changes are needed?".

Chilean Technology Transfer Office visits MUAS

Münster (Germany). Staff of Universidad de Santiago de Chile`s Technology Transfer Office participated in a 2 week long programme in Münster. The visit combined workshops on transfer related topics as well as job shadowings with MUAS staff, site visits and meetings with our external partners.

PDP on QM with Universidad de La Frontera successfully completed

Temuco (Chile). After seven month, three modules and two online coaching phases the Professional Development Programme on Quality Management was now completed. Prof. Dr. Richard Korff and Matthias Welp conducted the final workshop at the Universidad de La Frontera to sum up the results and evaluate the developed projects.

PDP (Transfer) at University of Santiago in Chile completed

Santiago de Chile (Chile). After more than six month and three modules both in Chile and Münster, our PDP at the University of Santiago de Chile has been succesfully completed. Prof. Dr. Thorsten Kliewe and Dr. Lina Landinez presented the participants with the certificates at the evaluation workshop in Santiago.

Module 2 (Transfer) with USACH completed

Münster (Germany). A group of academics from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Santiago of Chile (USACH) visited MUAS and the Science-to-Business Marketing Research Centre for one week. During their visit, the participants aimed at getting new insights and solutions on University-Business Cooperation, Partnership Development, University Engagement and Technology Transfer. The visitors embarked on a training session of MUAS' "Professional Development Programme - Technology Transfer 3.0" to exchange know-how with experts from the field.

Delegation of Engineering Scientists from Ethiopia visits MUAS

Münster (Germany). A group of Ethiopian academics and researchers from Engineering Sciences visited Münster University of Applied Sciences (MUAS) as part of the HELM Programme (Higher Education Leadership and Management Programme). The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) initiated the programme to provide technical support to the Ethiopian Ministry of Education and its subsidiary institutions through its Sustainable Training and Education Programme (STEP).
