Then join us in May 2020 in Münster and bring your data skills to the next level and yourself into a top position to co-create future occupations & work dynamics.

Held in Münster, Germany, our Summer School is a unique opportunity to understand and co-create the change we are seeing in the world.

The two weeks course bears 6 ECTS.

Objectives

Getting Started

Students create two dashboards in Tableau Desktop and publish them on Tableau Public

First dashboard on a free to choose topic/dataset has to be created until the application due date (February 15th) as one of the application requirements.

Second dashboard is a data driven resume/cv and due May 11th. Students will present their dashboards during the introduction in Münster on May 18th.

Self-study

Students have a basic knowledge about Tableau Desktop. They have understood and applied fundamental concepts (e. g. discrete/continuous, dimensions/measures, aggregations, …).

They are able to create basic chart types, have brought together and combined different views on a dashboard, and formatted views and dashboards.

Building Blocks

Students look at the data value chain from different perspectives and learn about fundamental technical concepts and the building blocks of data visualization and data analysis.

Students learn how digitalization changes the way companies act and the way they interact with their environment.

Lectures

Students have a good knowledge about technological, conceptual, and analytical fundamentals of data literacy. They also understand the disruptive impact of digitalization on companies and traditional business models.

Coding Bootcamp: Bringing Tableau visualizations to the web

Software Training

Students are prepared to take the Tableau Desktop Specialist Exam (not part of Summer School). More experienced students will be able to create advanced chart types.

Students have been introduced to Tableau Prep and basic techniques to bring Tableau visualizations to the web.

Collaborative Data Project

Data project as a group work including data gathering, data preparation, data visualization and presentation.

Group Work, Presentation

Students are able to apply their new knowledge in a data project and to collaborate in international and intercultural teams.

MSB Summer School 2020 is your opportunity to meet and work with several of the Tableau Zen Masters, a group of 30 people from all around the world who have been recognized for their mastery of the Tableau products, their willingness to share knowledge and their desire to collaborate to improve future Tableau solutions.

How to join?

Requirements:

  • Application form (accessible from January 15th until February 15th)
  • Proof of international health insurance
  • Proof of University enrolment (Bachelor´s or Master´s program)
  • Link to a published dashboard on Tableau Public on a free to choose topic/dataset
  • English Certificate (B1)

 

Tuition fee: 970 EUR

Costs included: Accommodation in shared apartments (kitchenette incl.) close to the University, welcome package, course material, wireless internet access on campus, Münster bus ticket or bicycle rent, action-based learning & social activities.

 

Not included: Travel to and from Germany, visa expenses, health insurance, accident or liability insurance, meals, any additional personal expenses.
